What if I have a weak internet connection?

Learn what to do if your internet connection is slow

Updated over a year ago

For the best experience on the Amplio learning platform, we suggest you have a broadband internet connection with upload and download speeds of at least 10 Mbps (15 Mbps or higher preferred).

Note: We do not recommend using a cellular network and strongly advise you to use a WIFI or Ethernet connection when available.

There are many free online internet speed tests you can run to find your connection speed. Fast.com is one such test site. Your speed may vary depending on the type of service you have, time of day, how many of your neighbors are using the same source, and how many other devices in your household are connected.

If your connection is on the slow end and your child is having problems during a session you may be able to take some simple actions to get the most out of your bandwidth. Here are a few ideas that might help.

  • Disconnect all other internet connected devices in your home

  • Make sure your child is near your Wi-Fi router

  • Turn your modem/router off, wait 30 seconds, and turn them back on

  • Switch your router to 5GHz

  • Connect to your router with an ethernet cable, if possible

Everyone's configuration is different. If these ideas don't work, you can try searching the internet for more tips.
