Reading Intervention Independent Practice Skills

Targeted practice assignments based on student single word reading performance

Updated over a month ago

After a student completes reading practice activities during an intervention session, independent practice skills based on those activities become available in their profile for you to assign.

Use the On/Off toggle to control if the skill should appear in their self practice and use the Repeat toggle if you want them to repeat the self practice. Use the trash can to remove the skill from their assignments. When there is more than one skill, you can reorder them by dragging and dropping each skill into the desired order.

On their next login (in the classroom, at home, at the library, etc.), the student will see a button for independent practice on their dashboard.

Once selected there are two options, self practice and guided practice.

In Self Practice, the student plays fun and engaging mini games. During the course of the game, practice words appear about every 20 seconds for the student to read out loud. The student's responses are tracked and feedback is provided depending on how well they did. Students accumulate coins by completing the practice words that they use to unlock more games.

The Guided Practice option skips the games and only provides the practice words. This option is ideal for students in the classroom where you would be available for assistance.

The student's responses are recorded and available for you to review in the Independent Practice Reports area of their profile. Similar to other activities, you can select individual practice sessions and view which words they were asked and how well they performed.
