Esperanza Curriculum and the Amplio Platform FAQ

Find answers to your questions about Esperanza on the Amplio platform

Updated over a year ago

1. Why was Esperanza Digitized?

Esperanza was digitized to give bilingual students the benefits of Amplio’s award-winning learning platform, designed to accelerate student progress and empower educators. As a digital curriculum, data can be automatically calculated and saved, all session notes are kept in one place, materials are organized and always available (think, no need to wait for the copy machine, carry heavy materials to multiple schools, or worry about materials getting lost or misplaced).

Amplio’s platform also saves time for interventionists with streamlined lesson planning, scheduling, and automated documentation save Scripted teaching instructions are built into the platform to support instructional fidelity. Supervisors are able to log in and see the student's progress in real-time. Designed for in-classroom instruction, Amplio’s cloud-based learning platform is adaptable for remote and hybrid learning. Finally, working on a digitized curriculum on a tablet/Chromebook is highly motivating and engaging for students.

2. Will I receive additional Esperanza materials?

No. The entire curriculum is fully digitized on the Amplio Platform. All the cards, instructions and materials are right at your fingertips, without having to worry that you've forgotten them somewhere or don't have something with you.

3. Is the digitized Esperanza curriculum multisensory? Can I veer off the platform?

Yes, in keeping with the multisensory approach of the Esperanza curriculum, interventionists are encouraged to continue to use multisensory activities with their students as they see fit.

4. Should my students continue to write on paper?

Yes, we encourage students to write on paper as it is highly beneficial, including in the spelling practice, writing practice, and in the Cuaderno de Vocabulario activities. The digital whiteboards are available as a reinforcement. If students have access to a touch screen they can use their finger or a Stylus pen to practice their writing, however, if students do not have access to a touch screen they can write on their Esperanza workbooks. In the event that students are not using the platform’s whiteboards, Interventionists need to continue to add these activities to the student lesson timeline in order to track that it was completed and so that it will appear in the session notes.

5. I can't find the Reading Deck section (Sección 4 tarjetas de lectura).

The reading deck section is the only Esperanza component that is not in order. It has to be found under the General tab or at the beginning of each lesson when using the filter by objective option and added to the playlist when scheduling. We recommend creating the playlist when scheduling the session and adding the Esperanza components in order to make it easy to follow during the session.

6. What are the steps to assign readers or reading practice?

  1. Once you're on the Reader or Reading Practice select Assign to students in the bottom right. You will see a "mini" version of their boards next to their names under your active students.

  2. Select your student’s "mini" board to enter the board & assign lines 1 & 2 to code.

  3. While the student is coding, select the next student’s "mini" board to enter their board & assign lines 3 & 4 to code.

  4. While that student is coding, select the first student’s "mini" board & select start reading. While the student is reading you mark the words he read incorrectly, then select stop reading. Data will populate on the top right.

  5. Go back to the second student’s "mini" board & select start reading. While they are reading you mark the words read incorrectly, then select stop reading. Data will populate on the top right.
