When you first open the Classroom after logging in to the Amplio platform, you will see a message where you can:
Schedule a new session
Start a prescheduled session
Jump into the Classroom
Alternatively, if you dismiss the message you'll land straight in the Classroom where you can plan and assemble your sessions with the activity library by searching for activities, filtering them by area of need, and more (A).
You can also begin therapy or intervention by either starting a scheduled session from the list (B) or inviting students to a new session (C). If you invite students to a new session from the Classroom it is automatically added to your calendar.
Note: Interventionists can switch between both the Dyslexia curricula structured content and clinical activities by using the associated icons below the library.
Once you've started a session, the classroom is where you'll run the session. You can see the status of the session across the top of the screen (A) and the status of students along the right side (B). The Add/Remove students button (C) allows you to change who is actually in the session.
Hover over the students' icon and select the revealed ellipsis to view student specific information. Here you can view the students' login link, invite remote students to turn on their video, type student notes, and even start a chat with the student.
This is also where you will mark in-classroom students as present if they can't connect with a device.
In the case of homebound or hybrid teaching, you can add up to 8 remote students with a video stream to the session. When a student turns on their video, they are placed into a video waiting room where you have the opportunity to Reject or Accept their stream.
Important: Preview each student's video for appropriateness as it is shared with every session participant.
Once you accept, a video thumbnail appears to the left of their name in the Active Students list. Select the video thumbnail for an enlarged view and video controls. A thumbnail of the activity they are currently working on is also visible to the right of their name once the activity is assigned.
After your students are logged in, use the classroom tools to share YouTube content, share your screen, and interact with a shared whiteboard.
Activities have a few tools of their own. You can preview, assign, present, and complete activities with the student(s). When working with a student in an activity, you can even lock their Amplio interface to keep them more focused.
When the session is over, use the End session button and either finalize the notes or save them as draft to finalize later.
