In this section, the students learn how to write cursive letters, words, sentences, and paragraphs. They also add punctuation marks to sentences, identify parts of a sentence, and parts of a story. Having the students practice handwriting in their own notebooks is highly encouraged.
Some activities from this section are:
Writing letters (lowercase and capital) and groups of letters
Writing words/sentences from dictation, copying from board/paper, or by formulating their own sentences
Writing sentences and adding punctuation marks/accents
Writing the alphabet in order
Writing paragraphs
Filling in the blanks in phrases
Adding punctuation marks to sentences
Writing and sorting words under categories
Identifying parts of a story (title, main idea, details, conclusion)
Identifying subjects, verbs, and adjectives
Tip: Have the students repeat the letters, words, and sentences before they write them down in their notebook.
