In this section, the students learn new concepts and letters.
Esperanza is a multisensory program. For this reason, Esperanza combines auditory, visual, tactile, and kinesthetic discovery. Here are some activities in this section:
One of the more engaging activities simulates the student's workbook cross format activity. In this activity, the students can use the stroke description to trace the letters, skywrite, and practice several times.
Tip: The students can trace/write the letters in the whiteboards using their finger, cursor, or stylus pen.
One concept that you introduce to your students in this section is syllable division. First, assign words to the student.
On their screen, the student selects the first word to open the coding area.
Here they divide the word into syllables and then categorize the letters as vowels or consonants by selecting the individual letters and coding with the appropriate buttons. When the student is ready, they can use the arrow to jump to the next word.
In this activity, you introduce new concepts such as affixes, vocabulary words, plurals, derivatives, or superlatives. You present the concepts with the decks and use the whiteboard to type out the words.
Activities that require the students to write on the whiteboard include guidelines as a student aid. The card deck is used to introduce the concept.
Some activities require the student to color code the different parts of speech, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, articles, adverbs, or prepositions. Students select the word that needs coding and then color each letter. Watch this demonstration to see the activity in action.
Paragraphs are also introduced in this section. In these activities, the paragraphs are displayed and the students can divide them into parts, such as title, theme, details, and conclusion. In other activities, we provided a Whiteboard so the students can write their own paragraphs. We suggest that the students write in their notebooks as well.
